PART 3: Capital in Action

Our Financial Vehicles in Action

Gives an overview of Energy Garden and how people can to contribute to and benefit from community-owned solar energy projects with potential returns and community impact.

Energy Garden’s 'Community energy in action' (website) is included in Part 3: Capital in Action, Chapter 'Our Financial Vehicles in Action' because it presents a concrete community-share finance model: Energy Garden sources rooftops and runs technical due diligence, issues community share offers (invest from £50) that grant membership in a one-member–one-vote Community Benefit Society, partners to install panels, sells energy (including corporate PPAs), manages projects over 20–25 years and uses surplus revenues to fund gardens, engagement and education—demonstrating governance, revenue streams and long-term asset management that illustrate how community capital can be mobilised and returned.
